Pool & Spa terms
Aeration: The process of mixing air and water. In spas and hot tubs this happens in two ways. One: Through a Venturi were air is pulled into the path of water and is then mixed in the spa water. Two: Through the use of a blower system which forces air into an air channel or though the spa jets.
Available Chlorine: The amount of hypochlorous acid ( this is the active part of chlorine) a chlorinating product produces. This is also referred to as Free Available Chlorine in the water.
Bacteria: Single-celled microscopic organisms. Pathogenic bacteria can cause irritation, disease, and infections. Hypochlorous acid ( this is in chlorine ) hypobromous acid are chemicals used to kill bacteria in pools and spas.
Balanced Water: This is pool or spa water that has the proper pH level and the appropriate mineral content for preventing corrosion and scaling.
